UW President Responds to Free Tuition Offer with Police
After receiving a notice of offer, posted on the front door of her residence and on the
windshield of one of her cars, in the late hours of election Tuesday, the President of UW,
Phyllis Wise, responded (to what she seems to have interpreted as either a nuisance or a threat of some sort) through Campus Police, early Wednesday, rather than contacting Chief of Operations, for C-Systems who made the offer.
The offer consisted of an Extravagant promise to cover the tuition of the 40,000 + students of the University, and requiring little more from her than a piddling 3 phone calls, passing on an offer of partnership (with her explicit support), that would have seen either Apple, Samsung, or Nokia cover the costs of Seattle Summer Festival Promotional, in exchange for massive global publicity in the endeavour, and a generous return on investment.
An enterprise which would have consisted of utilizing some 800+ celebrities operating the festival franchises, to promote the ideas that the festival represents, across 22 Cities throughout the globe, 12 outside the US, while raising billions to create new companies and putting people to work, in great numbers.
And of course, in the process raising the funds necessary to fulfill our promise of fully funding the tuition costs of the UW student body through 2011.
Rather than respond with some modicum of curiosity, befitting someone in charge of the UW, and reflecting on the troubles students endure in paying for their education, she seems to have interpreted the offer as not worthy of her consideration, letting personal ego get ahead of her official position.
Though one could argue that a more conventional and formal approach should have been taken, to this more personal one, it certainly did not warrant anymore of a police response than someone getting a leaflet on their vehicle for some pizza joint, or tied around their front doors-knob.
C-Systems feels that the outrageous response to this act of generosity, reflects a severe flaw in Ms. Wise's judgement, and as such, it is ill-befitting for her to remain in any position of authority.
The partnership offer (duplicate) that was to be passed onto our would-be partners, but was instead treated with contempt is here:
